Why the country setting matters
A bag of concrete is 80 lb in Ohio, 30 kg in Ontario, 25 kg in Leeds and 20 kg in Brisbane. Gravel is sold by the cubic foot in the US and by the kilogram or 850 kg bulk bag in the UK. Pick your country at the top of the page and every calculator switches to the units and pack sizes sold there. You can still switch between feet and metric on any calculator.
Worked examples
- Ten fence posts (4×4) in 10 in holes, 36 in deep with 6 in of gravel, take 22 × 80 lb bags of concrete, including 10% extra.
- A 20 × 10 ft flower bed at 3 in deep takes 28 bags of 2 cu ft mulch, including 10% for settling.
- A 12 × 12 ft bedroom with 8 ft walls needs about 1.9 gallons for two coats, so two 1-gallon cans.
